- Most countries have a positive growth rate
- Religions promote large families which would increase the amount of people in their faith
- Stage 2 is where most children stopped working and started going to school
Video from Kim Smith:
- Since the Agricultural Revolution until the Industrial Revolution the worlds population only grew 67,000 people per year, now we gain that many people in 6-7 hours
- We are experiencing exponential growth and it isn't expected to level off until 2050 when we hit 9-10 billion people
- Some people believe that industrialization is the answer to overpopulation
Why Populations Grow:
- The birth rate in less economic countries is way higher than the birth rate of economic countries
- Japans population has experienced negative rates on RNI since 2007 and is expected to lose 21% of its population by 2050
- High death rates in third world countries are due to wars, no access to medical knowledge, no clean water and no food
My favorite video was the one by Kim Smith. I think she did a good job putting the stages into perspective and i think i retained the most knowledge from that video.
